“Wesley Chu’s Lives of Tao is one of those military science fiction novels that isn’t afraid to have some fun in between the action scenes, or during them for that matter. "The Lives of Tao marvelously casts all of war, science, politics, religion, and economics into a stark new light. It switches well between action-packed scenes and philosophical discussions about human nature and the pitfalls of manipulation, even guided The lives of Tao book the best of intents."/5(K).
Tao watched with interest as his new host milled about in his drunken state. After living through hundreds of lives, he had become quite adept at reading humans.
He studied Roen’s mannerisms and behaviors, his driving habits, the tidiness of the bedroom, and his interaction with his roommate. Yet, “The Lives of Tao” by Wesley Chu is more than a “fish out of water” story.
It’s an exciting and very creative science fiction thriller that fuses history, thrills, spy story conventions, and humor. With an alien in your head, you, even you, can become James Bond. Book Review The Lives of Tao by Wesley Chu Last month, I started listening to a podcast, Writing Excuses, which was recommended by a writing colleague at the Tokyo Writers Workshop, Karen McGee.
An excellent writer of mystery, crime, and short fiction. She recommended a couple of episodes to help a fellow TWW-er. In some way The Lives of Tao is actually two books, the first is about thirty something inveterate loser Roen Chan’s accidental merging with an invisible alien being named Tao.
Roen’s life will depressingly familiar to anyone who’s ever had a job they hated, or who has struggled to find the motivation to exercise.4/5. The Lives of Tao (Tao, #1), The Deaths of Tao (Tao, #2), The Rebirths of Tao (Tao, #3), and The Days of Tao (Tao #)Author: Wesley Chu.

This hilarious relationship between Roen and Tao makes this book for me and easily constitutes my favorite part of the tale. The Lives of Tao represented a story about a war while also holding onto the humanity and personal struggle of its characters.
As with most relationship-focused people, this science-fiction work stood out to me as a. The lives of Tao. [Wesley Chu] -- When out-of-shape IT technician Roen woke up and started hearing voices in his head, he naturally assumed he was losing it.
He wasn't. First of all, the novel mostly takes place in Chicago, which is a good enough reason to read any book. The Lives of Tao is a fast-paced sci-fi spy story sprinkled with geeky humor. If the plot doesn’t sound interesting, wait until you meet the character of Tao, an alien you grow to care about as much as his human partner.
Why is this on our bookshelf. Trust me, some sci-fi books are geekier than others and this one definitely had geeky flavor.5/5. Working Subscribe Subscribed Unsubscribe K.The Lives of Tao (Tao, #1) by Wesley Chu I generally eschew books where aliens and humans "merge" together and become something better to save to day.
Happily, this novel is much more realistic, and also a bit more fanciful. The author does a very credible job of fusing a vastly intelligent, and somehow caring, alien with a total, schlubby loser/5. The book I read is The Lives of Tao, by Wesley Chu and it is a sci-fi. The story begins in Chicago with Edward Blair, who is Tao's current host as they are completing a mission for reasons unknown at the time.
Shortly after this Edward dies and Tao inhabits a new host who happens to be Roen Tan the main character of this book.
